Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which was free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees
were exposed to the hazard of being struck by moving equipment while
hoisting a Giant Vac
truck mounted leaf blower with a Log Grapple Attachment.
235 Route 7, Redding, CT:  On or about 11/27/07 an employee was injured
when he was struck
by and run-over by a Caterpillar Skid Steer as the employees were
attempting to lift and move
a vehicle mounted leaf vacuum with the winch on the attachment of the Skid
Steer.
Among others, one acceptable and feasible means of abatement would be to:
1) Use a tag line while moving the leaf blower to ensure that employees
maintained sufficient
clearance around moving equipment.
