Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that, employees were exposed to the 10 foot fall hazards from the bucket of a hydraulic excavator while standing in the bucket of a Hitachi hydraulic excavator, model #ZAXIS 270LC. The employee was placing the barge anchor rope on the rope piles anchor. One feasible and acceptable abatement method, among others, to correct this hazard is to hang the rope on the back of the excavator bucket while the employee on the barge deck guiding the rope. Specific abatement documentation is required.tion
