of time up to and including 02/10/09, an auxiliary means of escape, such
as a Geronimo line,
was not installed prior to personnel working in the derrick.
API Recommended Practice 54, Third Edition, April 1999, Reaffirmed March
2007, titled
"Recommended Practice for Occupational Safety for Oil and Gas Drilling and
Servicing
Operations", states in Section 6, Paragraph 6.10.01, "On all land rigs,
the derrick or mast shall
have an auxiliary means of escape installed prior to personnel working in
the derrick."
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct this hazard is
to ensure an auxiliary means of escape, such as a Geronimo line, is
installed prior to personnel
working in the derrick.
