Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the condition(s) listed below: L M Drilling Inc., dba Mattlock Drilling LP, Rig 3, Weyman 23 Well #2, Glasscock County, TX. For the period of time up to and including 03/17/09, the employer allowed an employee from the casing crew to begin air hoist operations while rig employees were still working on the rig floor, exposing rig employees to the hazard of working under a suspended load without knowledge. Feasible Abatement: One method of abatement would include not allowing casing crews on the rig floor until all rig employees have completed there assigned jobs.
