Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not furnish employment
and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause
death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed
to falling loads:
(a) Facility, McNaulty Road, Baldwin, PA:  On or about March 4, 2010, the
employer did not perform
frequent (monthly) and periodic inspections (yearly) of the five ton
hoists.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable means of abatement for
this violation is to perform
monthly and yearly inspections in accordance with the manufacturer's
recommendations and the American
Society of Mechanical Engineers, ASME B30.16, Section 16-2.1.2; Section
16-2.1.3; and Section 16-2.3.1.
