Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:
The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a
place of
employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or
likely to cause
death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed
to struck-by
hazards:
On or about 04-09-09, while moving a 5' X 10' X 1" steel plate that
weighed approximately
2,040 lbs, employees were exposed to a struck-by hazard when the drywall
dolly being used
to move the steel plate tipped over.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct this hazard
is to prohibit the use of the drywall dolly to carry steel plates.
PLEASE NOTE: CERTIFICATION OF ABATEMENT IS REQUIRED FOR THIS
VIOLATION.
