Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees
were exposed to a fall hazard:
a) Route 611 / Friendlys parking lot area - Employees were lowered into a
10' deep
trench on the bucket of a John Deere 240D LC Excavator, observed on or
about
08/19/10.
ABATEMENT NOTE: Among others, one feasible and acceptable method to abate
this hazard
is to follow the manufacturers safety instructions and never use the
machine to lift people.
