29 CFR 1910.23(c)(1): Open sided floor(s) or platform(s) 4 feet or more above the adjacent floor or ground level were not guarded by standard railings (or the equivalent as specified in 29 CFR 1910.23(e)(3)(i) through (v)), on all open sides: (a)Knouse Foods, Orrtanna, PA, Plant - Employees were exposed to falls of approximately 25" to 30' from an open sided upper roof level on the production facility without any form of fall protection. The area is routinely accessed by fixed industrial stairs to inspect equipment located on relief risers. Condition observed on or about March 2, 2012.

There is no record for an initial evaluation of the contractor's safety record and programs. Abatement certification required within 10 days after abatement date. The certification shall include a statement that abatement is complete, date and method of abatement, and states employees and their representatives were informed of this abatement.
