One or more methods of machine guarding shall be provided to protect the operatorand other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips andsparks. Examples of guarding methods are-barrier guards, two-hand tripping devices,electronic safety devices, etc. (a) Grinding/Finishing Area; The conveyor from green-sand storage to the muller was not properly guarded on one-side exposing employees to a nip-point.

29 CFR 1910.1025(e)(4)(i): When ventilation is used to control exposure, measurements which demonstrate the effectiveness of the system in controlling exposure, such as capture velocity, duct velocity, or static pressure shall be made at least every 3 months. Measurements of the system's effectiveness in controlling exposure shall be made within 5 days of any change in production, process, or control which might result in a change in employee exposure to lead. (a) Throughout the facility; The employer did not conduct evaluations of local exhaust systems to ensure their effectiveness in controlling and reducing exposure to lead and various other substances.

29 CFR 1910.1025(i)(4)(iv): The employer shall assure that employees do not enter lunchroom facilities with protective workclothing or equipment unless surface lead dust has been removed by vacuuming, down draft booth, or other cleaning method. (a) Lunch area; The employer did not require employees to remove surface lead dust before entering the lunchroom which also served as the change room. Wipe sampling indicated lead was found in areas such as, but not limited to, the lunchroom table and the refrigeration door handle.
