29 CFR 1926.501(b)(1): \r\n\r\n\"Unprotected sides and edges.\" Each employee on a walking/working surface (horizontal and verticalsurface) with an unprotected side or edge which is 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above a lower level shall be protected from falling by the use of guardrailsystems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems.\r\n\r\n(a)  An employee working from the top of a parapet wall was not protected from falling to the lower level.  This exposed the employee to a fall hazard of approximately 18 feet.

29 CFR 1926.501(b)(4)(i): \r\n\r\nEach employee on walking/working surfaces shall be protected from falling through holes(including skylights) more than 6 feet (1.8 m) above lower levels, by personal fall arrest systems, covers, or guardrail systems erected around such holes.\r\n\r\n(a)  Employees working on a flat roof deck were not protected from falling through a hole to the lower level. This exposed employees to a fall hazard of approximately 13.4 feet.
