29 CFR 1910.24(h):     "Railings and handrails." Standard railings shall be provided on the open sides of all exposed stairways and stair platforms. Handrails shall be provided on at least one side of closed stairways preferably on the right side descending. Stair railings and handrails shall be installed in accordance with the provisions of 1910.23.    a. At the Ohio Stoneware facility located in Zanesville, Ohio the emplolyer had a set of concrete stairs, five risers in height, that led from the employee parking area to the employee entrance to the building that was not equipped with a mid-rail on the stair railing.

29 CFR 1910.37(b)(6):     Each exit sign must be illuminated to a surface value of at least five foot-candles (54 lux) by a reliable light source and be distinctive in color. Self-luminous or electroluminescent signs that have a minimum luminance surface value of at least .06 footlamberts (0.21 cd/m2) are permitted.    a. At the Ohio Stoneware facility located in Zanesville, Ohio the employer had an Exit sign by the glaze kiln that was not illuminated.    b. At the Ohio Stoneware facility located in Zanesville, Ohio the employer had an Exit sign by the overhead door in the forming room that was not illuminated.
