29 CFR 1910.135(a)(1): The employer did not ensure that each affected employee wear a protective helmet when working in areas where there is a potential for injury to the head from falling objects: a. Canam Structal Bridges - On or about 10/10/12, an employee working in the yard securing a girder to the split trailers in preparation for transport was not protected with a protective helmet while working under the overhead crane (Shuttle Lift), in that the bump cap that he was wearing was cracked and was beyond its expiration date, and a bump cap does not meet the specifications contained in ANSI Z89.1. Abatement Note: The employer must provide each employee with head protection that meets the specifications contained in ANSI Z89.1.
