29 CFR 1926.652(a)(1):     Each employee in an excavation was not protected from cave-ins by an adequate protective system designed in accordance with 29 CFR 1926.652(c). The employer had not complied with the provisions of 29 CFR 1926.652(b)(1)(i) in that the excavaton was sloped at an angle steeper that one and one half horizontal to one vertical (34 degrees measured from the horizontal):    a) Trench in 1100 Block on Prince Street, Taylor, PA - Employees who entered the 6 foot deep and 6 foot wide trench to prepare the corrugated pipes for joining were not provided with adequate trench boxes or other systems to protect the ramp or trench areas while they were accessing, exiting and/or working within the trench thereby exposing the employees to a cave-in hazard, observed on or about 9-10-2012.
