29 CFR 1910.138(a): The employer did not select and require employee(s) to use appropriate hand protection when employees' hands were exposed to hazards such as those from skin absorption of harmful substances; severe cuts or lacerations; severe abrasion; punctures; chemical burns; thermal burns; and harmful temperature extremes. a) Service Department- The employer failed to select and require the use of appropriate personal protective equipment, such as gloves, when employees were exposed to laceration hazards while working on automobiles, burn hazards when working with corrosive chemicals such as degreasers, all purpose cleaners, and floor cleaners, and chemical burns from solvents such as the Petroleum Naphtha used in the parts cleaner tank, as a part of their job tasks. In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(d), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET), and in addition, documentation demonstrating that abatement is complete must be included with your certification.
