29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: On or about August 15, 2013, and at times prior thereto, employees were allowed to operate machines that were found not having proper guards provided, including but not limited to the following instances: 1) In the Finishing Department, conveyor system was found having in-running nip points that did not have guards provided. 2) At the stitching machine, one of the guards was found not having an interlock device provided. Employees were exposed to possible amputation hazards.
