OSH ACT of 1970 Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were potentially exposed to: struck by hazards at such point as the rig would have been operated in over-the-road travel on the highway:    Among other methods, feasible and acceptable abatement methods to correct this hazard would be to:    1.  Inspect vehicles daily to verify that the vehicle is in good mechanical condition and properly equipped, in accordance with the recommendations from the Association of Energy Servicing Companies "Recommended Safe Procedures and Guidelines for Oil and Gas Well Servicing,"  Section XII.    2.  Ensure vehicles have current DOT inspection stickers, in accordance with the recommendations from the Association of Energy Servicing Companies' "Recommended Safe Procedures and Guidelines for Oil and Gas Well Servicing,"  Section XII.    3.  Develop schedules of inspection based on experience, the manufacturer's recommendations, environment, load cycles, regulatory requirements, operating times, testing and/or repairs, in accordance with the American Petroleum Institute's Recommended Practice 4G, "Operation, Inspection, Maintenance, and Repair of Drilling and Well Servicing Structure,'  Section 6.3.    Disclaimers:           1)  You are not limited to the abatement methods suggested above.           2)  The methods explained are general and may not be effective in all cases.           3)  The employer is responsible for selecting and carrying out an appropriate method.
