29 CFR 1910.184(c)(1): Sling(s) that were damaged or defective were used.   The employer does not ensure that damaged slings are not used.  This violation was observed on or about April 8, 2914, outside the fabrication shop, where employees were exposed to stuck-by hazards when lifting pieces of flanged steel with slings showing visible damage of tears and broken/worn webbing.   Pursuant to 29 C.F.R. 1903.19, within ten (10) calendar days of the abatement date, the employer must submit documentation showing that it is in compliance with the standard, including describing the steps that it is taking to ensure that all lifting slings that are damaged or defective are removed from service.

29 CFR 1910.184(i)(1): Synthetic web sling(s) were not marked or coded to show rated capacities for each type of hitch and type of synthetic web material:   The employer does not ensure that each synthetic web sling(s) was marked or coded to show rated capacities for each type of hitch and type of synthetic web material.  This violation was observed on or about April 8, 2014, outside the fabrication shop, where employees were exposed to struck-by hazards when the sling they were using was not marked to show the rated capacities for each type of hitch.   Pursuant to 29 C.F.R. 1903.19, within ten (10) calendar days of the abatement date, the employer must submit documentation showing that it is in compliance with the standard, including describing the steps that is taking to ensure that all synthetic web slings are marked or coded to show rated capacities for each type of hitch.

29 CFR 1910.303(f)(2): Each service, feeder, and branch circuit, at its disconnecting means or overcurrent device, was not legibly marked to indicate its purpose, nor located and arranged so the purpose was evident:   The employer does not ensure that each service, feeder, and branch circuit, at its disconnecting means or overcurrent device, was legibly marked to indicate its purpose.  This violation was observed on or about April 8, 2014, in Building 3, where a  low voltage breaker cabinet was not legibly marked to indicate each breakers purpose.     Pursuant to 29 C.F.R. 1903.19, within ten (10) calendar days of the abatement date, the employer must submit documentation showing that it is in compliance with the standard, including describing the steps that it is taking to ensure that each service, feeder, and branch circuit, at its disconnecting means or overcurrent device, is legibly marked to indicate its purpose.
