Employees, using pneumatic nail guns to install shingles, without eye protection were exposed to injuries from flying debris.

29 CFR 1926.501(b)(13): Each employee engaged in residential construction activities 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above lower levels were not protected by guardrail systems, safety net system, or personal fall arrest system. a) Roof of residence located at 12719 Ruths Farm way, Alpharetta, Georgia. The employer exposed employees to fall hazards while installing roofing shingles. The employees were working from a steep, 10 in 12, pitched roof without protection from fall hazards. The unprotected edges of the main roof ranged from 18-feet 4-inches at the front to 26-feet 10-inches at the rear of the residence.

29 CFR 1926.503(a)(2)(iii): The employer did not assure that each employee has been trained, as necessary, by a competent person in the use and operation of guardrail systems, safety net systems, warning line systems, safety monitoring systems, controlled access zones, and other protection to be used. a) Residence located at 12719 Ruths Farm Way, Alpharetta, Georgia. The employer exposed employees to fall hazards while installing roofing shingles. The employees were working from a steep, 10 in 12, pitched roof without protection from fall hazards. The unprotected edges of the main roof ranged from 18-feet 4-inches at the front to 26-feet 10-inches at the rear of the residence. Some of the employees were wearing mountaineering harnesses for fall protection while others had no protection at all.
