Each employee engaged in residential construction activities 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above lower levels shall be protected by guardrail systems, safety net system, or personal fall arrest system.      2 Forest Dr. 201-244, Edison, NJ - Employees engaged in roofing activities approximately 20 feet above the ground were not protected falls by use of a guardrail system, safety net system, or personal fall arrest system.        Violation was observed on or about 8/18/2014.

29 CFR 1926.1053(b)(1): When portable ladders are used for access to an upper landing surface, the ladder side rails shall extend at least 3 feet (.9 m) above the upper landing surface to which the ladder is used to gain access.    2 Forest Dr. 201-244, Edison, NJ - Employees using the ladder to access the roof of the residential structure were exposed to falls of approximately 20 feet because the ladder was not extended 3 feet above the roof surface.      Violation was observed on or about 8/18/2014.
