On or about January 14, 2015, in the stock room on the scullery aisle, the employer failed to ensure that emergency exits were at least 28 inches. 29 CFR 1910.37(a)(3): Exit route(s) were not kept free and unobstructed: On or about January 14, 2015, in the stock room, the employer failed to ensure that aisles were kept free and unobstructed. Employees retrieve items for customers all day throughout their shifts. Instance 1) the food aisle had boxes of stock on both sides of the aisle with clearance varying between 12 and 24 inches. Instance 2) the cook tools and glass aisle had boxes of stock stacked in the aisle with clearance varying between 12 and 28 inches. Instance 3) the scullery aisle had boxes stored in the aisle and had clearance varying between 22 and 23 inches.

29 CFR 1910.24(h): Standard railings were not provided on the open sides of all exposed stairways and stair platforms: On or about January 14, 2015, in the stock room, the employer failed to ensure that the handrail was accessible. The open sided stairway was being used as storage for stock. Employees used the stairway to access the second floor of the stock room.
