29 CFR 1915.14(b)(1)(iii): Hot work was permitted in the engine room or boiler spaces, for which a Marine Chemist or a Coast Guard authorized person certificate was not required under paragraph (a)(1)(i) of this section, before being tested by a competent person and determined to contain no concentrations of flammable vapors equal to or greater than 10 percent of the lower explosive limit: a)McAllister boat #187, engine room ; on July 26, 2017 and times prior the employer exposed employees to explosion hazards due to not testing the atmosphere in the engine room prior to conducting Hot Work.
