29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: Combo Saw - RipSaw #2 Area. On or about July 03, 2019, and at times prior thereto, moving cylinders of the paper lift found on the combo saw were not fully protected with fixed or movable guarding to prevent contact with the moving parts. This condition exposed employees to amputation hazards. Pursuant to 29 C.F.R. 1903.19, within ten (10) calendar days of the abatement date, the employer must submit documentation describing the actions it is taking to establish, communicate, and implement policies for the use of Machine Guarding for employees with possible exposure to amputation hazards.
