29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks:    a. On or about September 17, 2019, meat department, the unused portion of the blades on the Hollymatic (16-5000) and Ziro (760M72A) meat cutting vertical band saws were not completely guarded, the blades were not adjusted to the size of the stock. Employees were exposed to the hazards associated with reaching into the rotating saw blades.

29 CFR 1910.212(a)(3)(iii): Special hand tools for placing and removing material(s) was not provided to permit easy handling of material without the operator placing a hand in the danger zone:    a. On or about September 17, 2019, meat department, the employer did not provide or require the use of a special handtool, such as a "push plate/paddle", for employees to use when cutting pork feet on the Hollymatic (16-5000) and Ziro (760M72A) vertical band saws. Employees were thereby exposed to amputation hazard from the rotating/moving saw blades.

29 CFR 1910.303(f)(1): Each disconnecting means required by Subpart S of Part 1910 for motors and appliances was not legibly marked to indicate its purpose, nor located and arranged so the purpose was evident:    a. Meat department - On or about September 17, 2019, the meat cutting Ziro vertical band saw did not have the disconnecting mean legibly marked. The on/off switch and emergency stop buttons where not operable. Employees/ bandsaw operators were thereby exposed to hazards associated with rotating/moving saw blades.
