29 CFR  1910.212(a)(3)(iii):  Special hand tools for placing and removing material(s) was not provided to permit easy handling of material without the operator placing a hand in the danger zone:  a.  On or about November 10, 2022, in the meat production area, employees were required to hand-feed pork femur bones into the Hollymatic Hi-Yield 16-5000 vertical meat bandsaw.  The employer did not require the use of a special hand tool, such as a "Pusher", to permit safe handling of the meat without the operator placing a hand in the danger zone.  Employees were thereby exposed to amputation hazards associated with an unprotected rotating saw blade.  Charles Austin Holdings, LLC was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard 29 CFR 1910.212(a)(3)(iii), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1431520, citation number 1, item number 2 and was affirmed as a final order on December 11, 2019, with respect to a workplace located at 1801 S. Canal Street, Chicago, IL 60616.
