29 CFR  1926.850(a):  Prior to permitting employees to start demolition operations, an engineering survey shall be made, by a competent person, of the structure to determine the condition of the framing, floors, and walls, and possibility of unplanned collapse of any portion of the structure.  Any adjacent structure where employees may be exposed shall also be similarly checked. The employer shall have in writing evidence that such a survey has been performed.  On March 16, 2021 at 2138 W Wisconsin Avenue in Appleton, Wisconsin, the employer did not provide a written survey of structural safety conditions for a demolition site including the stability of an exterior wall left standing attached at one end to the existing building with a window and glass door.  The exterior wall bracing was removed to make room for a concrete truck.

On or about March 11, 2021 at 2138 W Wisconsin Avenue in Appleton, Wisconsin, the employer did not provide a protective cover for an energized gas meter during demolition work of one side of a building.  The meter was mounted on an exterior wall that was left standing for re-use after the demolition work was complete.
