29 CFR  1910.212(a)(1):One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks:  (a) Excalibur Machine & Sheetmetal, Inc.: On or before 1/31/22, the employer did not protect employees from injury in that a Hardinge manual lathe [model: HLV-H, serial: HLVH-13713-T]  did not have a guard over the chuck portion of the lathe. This condition exposed employees to rotating parts and hot flying chips.  (b) Excalibur Machine & Sheetmetal, Inc.: On or before 1/31/22, the employer did not protect employees from injury in that a Startrite horizontal bandsaw [model: H2250, serial: 92865] lacked guarding on the unused portion of the saw blade outside the clamping area. This condition exposed employees to laceration and amputation hazards.   Abatement Note: Abatement certification is required for this item.
