Prescription lenses did not incorporate eye protection to protect against flying particles created while clipping plastic parts and operating the grinding equipment. Employees were exposed to burns and lacerations to their hands when handling hot parts and cutting plastic parts, and to eye injury from flying debris when operating equipment such as, but not limited to, plastic grinders. Employees were required to purchase safety glasses and two types of protective gloves. In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(d), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET), and in addition, documentation demonstrating that abatement is complete must be included with your certification.
