29 CFR 1910.132(a): Protective equipment was not used when necessary whenever hazards capable of causing injury and impairment were encountered: a. On or about July 26, 2023, in the facility and field, employees were exposed to chemicals including, but not limited to anhydrous ammonia, potassium salt of glyphosate and 2-chloro-4-ethylamino-6-isopropylamino-s-triazine (atrazine) while servicing and cleaning equipment. The employer failed to provide and require the use of appropriate body protection, including torso and extremity (feet) protection, when exposed to body contact with the hazardous materials.

If such hazards are present, or likely to be present, the employer shall: a. On or about July 26, 2023, in the facility and field, the employer failed to conduct a personal protective equipment assessment for employees conducting rinsing/washing and troubleshooting of portable tanks used to apply fertilizer and herbicides on farmland. Employee exposure included, but was not limited to, anhydrous ammonia, potassium salt of glyphosate and 2-chloro-4-ethylamino-6-isopropylamino-s-triazine (atrazine).
