29 CFR  1910.134(h)(1): Cleaning and disinfecting. The employer shall provide each respirator user with a respirator that is clean, sanitary, and in good working order. The employer failed to ensure that respirators are cleaned and disinfected using the procedures in Appendix B-2 of this section, or procedures recommended by the respirator manufacturer, provided that such procedures are of equivalent effectiveness. The respirators shall be cleaned and disinfected at the following intervals:  On or about March 19, 2024, the employer failed to ensure employees working in close proximity to lead while manufacturing lead ingots were properly cleaning their respirator, resulting in lead exposures. A wipe sample taken from the inside of a foreman's powered air-purifying respirator showed an exposure of 126.8024 micrograms of lead.  Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(d).
