29 CFR 1926.55(a)(2): An employee(s) was exposed to substance(s) with a permissible exposure limit not preceded by (C) at concentrations above that specified in Table 1 of 1926.55 for that substance(s): 644 West Putnam Avenue, Bridgeport CT: On or about May 21, 2024, one employee was using a gas powered hand saw when he was exposed to carbon monoxide at concentrations in excess of the 8-hour time weighted average (TWA) permissible exposure limit (PEL) of 50 parts per million (ppm). The gasoline-powered saw was used in an enclosed space which allowed the exhaust gases to accumulate. One employee had been exposed to carbon monoxide at an 8-hour TWA of 92.4 ppm which is 1.85 times the PEL. The exposure concentration was derived by entering the employee's carboxyhemoglobin (COHb) concentration and other data into the Coburn-Forster-Kane equation.
