29 CFR 1910.133(a)(3): The employer did not ensure that each affected employee, who wore prescription lenses while engaged in operations that involved eye hazards, used protection that incorporated the prescription in its design, or wore eye protection over the prescription glasses or protective lenses with side shields.   a) On June 27, 2024, Excel Color Corporation did not require or ensure that employees, whose vision requires the use of prescription lenses, use proper prescription safety glasses or eye protection that could be worn over corrective lenses when preparing and handling a solution, containing acetone, at the cleaning station.   No abatement certification or documentation is required for this item.

29 CFR 1910.134(g)(1)(i)(A): Respirators with tight-fitting facepieces were worn by employees who had facial hair that came between the sealing surface of the facepiece and the face or that interfered with valve function:  a) On June 27, 2024, Excel Color Corporation did not ensure that employees wearing 3M 6300 tight-fitting half-face respirator with organic vapor cartridge did not have facial hair which interfered with the seal between the face and the respirator's facepiece.  In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(c), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET).

29 CFR 1910.134(h)(2)(i): Respirators were not stored to protect them from damage, contamination, dust, sunlight, extreme temperatures, excessive moisture, and damaging chemicals or were not packed or stored to prevent deformation of the facepiece and exhalation valve:  a) On June 27, 2024, the employer did not ensure that respirators were stored to prevent contamination from acetone. Employee(s) stored the 3M 6300 tight-fitting half-face respirator on top of a shelve at the cleaning station.   In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(c), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET).
