29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. United States Seafoods F/T SEAFREEZE AMERICA, Machine Shop: On or about February 25, 2026, employees working in the maintenance shop utilizing the Victor 1640 lathe were exposed to injury because the lathe chuck was not guarded. OSHA Instruction: Shipyard Employment "Tool Bag" Directive - CPL 02-00-162 allows for the applicability of 29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1) in the ship building and ship repair industry.
