EMPLOYEE KILLED WHEN CAUGHT IN TEXTILE LOOM MECHANISM
Investigation abstract
The employee was a cleaner in a textile weave room. The card system fell from th e track of a Jacquard loom. The employee was assigned by the loom fixer to seque nce the cards prior to reinsertion. The employee then disappeared while the loom fixer was reinserting cards from floor level. The employee inexplicably mounted a platform over the loom and reached in through the Jacquard head lever arms to the card rack. The employee was fatally injured when the loom was jogged causin g the lever arms to move in a pincer movement.
