WELDER BECAME ILL; DIED OF HEART ATTACK SOON AFTER

Investigation abstract

EMPLOYEE #1 WORKED FOR APPROXIMATELY TWO WEEKS BEFORE BECOMING ILL. HE WAS EMPLO YED AS AN ACETYLENE TORCH CUTTER (VICTOR TORCH 315-C). HE CUT STAINLESS STEEL, B LACK IRON AND GALVANIZED METAL TABLES AND PIPES, AFTER WHICH THE CUT PIECES WERE REMOVED FROM THE WORK AREA. EMPLOYEE #1 BEGAN TO COMPLAIN OF HEADACHES AND DIZZ INESS. TWO DAYS AFTER HE STOPPED CUTTING, HE DEVELOPED CHEST PAINS AS WELL AS TH E HEADACHES. HE WENT TO THE COMPANY DOCTOR, WHO HAD HIM ADMITTED TO THE HOSPITAL . HIS CONDITION STEADILY WORSENED UNTIL, 2 DAYS LATER, HE DIED. THE DEATH CERTIF ICATE STATED THAT HE DIED OF A MYOCARDIAL INFARCTION.
