Event description
Employee killed when struck by flying board
Investigation abstract
At about 2:50 p.m. on January 29, 1988, Employee #1 was feeding wooden boards th at were approximately 10 ft long by 4 in. wide by 1 1/8 in. thick into a miner e dger saw, serial #FB8808. A board kicked back, striking Employee #1 in the left forearm and lower abdomen and killing him. The edger saw was not equipped with a nti-kickback devices.
