EMPLOYEE DIES FROM HEAT STROKE WHILE DOING LAWN MAINTENANCE
Investigation abstract
On August 11, 1988 Employee #1, a lawn care crew member for Maintain Incorporate al of 97 hours during the 2-week pay period of his death. d, was using a 36-in. self-propelled Exmark lawn mower. At 6:00 p.m. he took a w ater break and joked with other employees. At 6:15 p.m. he was observed mowing, and at 6:30 p.m. he was found huddled by the mower, hot and dry. Employee #1 was carried to the shed and wiped down with water. An ambulance took him to the Par kland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, Texas. His core temperature was 108 degrees F arenheit. He died August 12, 1988 at 4:14 a.m. Cause of death was listed as hype rthermia. On the day of the accident, the outside temperature was 96 degrees Far enheit, with a heat index of 107 degrees Farenheit. Employee #1 had worked a tot
