CONSTRUCTION EMPLOYEE CRUSHED BY FALLING CRANE BOOM
Investigation abstract
EMPLOYEE #1 WAS DISASSEMBLING THE BOOM OF A BUCYRUS-ERIE MOBILE TRUCK CRANE. THE BOOM WAS PARALLEL TO THE GROUND OR A HEIGHT OF 6 FEET. IT WAS NOT SUPPORTED BY ANY TYPE OF BLOCKING. THE LOWER PINS WERE REMOVED FIRST, THEN THE UPPER PINS. AS SOON AS THE UPPER PINS WERE REMOVED THE BOOM COLLAPSED, STRIKING AND CRUSHING E MPLOYEE #1. HE WAS KILLED.
