Event description
Three employees exposed to chlorine gas
Investigation abstract
Employee #1 smelled chlorine gas as he was driving home and went to investigate. He then drove coworkers to the building to help stop the leak. Employee #1, who had not used personal protective equipment, was examined at a hospital and rele ased. Employee #2 was also driving home when he smelled chlorine gas and stopped . Employee #2, who had a beard, wore a Scott self-contained breathing apparatus but was overcome when he attempted to enter the building. He was examined at the hospital and released. Employee #3 was instructed to check out the leak. He wor e a National Drager self-contained breathing apparatus but was also overcome by the chlorine vapors. Employee #3 was examined at home.
