Event description
EMPLOYEE KILLED WHEN RUN OVER BY ROAD GRADER
Investigation abstract
Employee #1 was the operator of a Galion grader and at the time of the accident was scraping a rural unpaved road which was isolated and infrequently traveled. There were no witnesses to the accident. A postal employee delivering mail on th e road observed a body on the side of the road and saw the grader in the ditch 1 65 feet further down the road from the body. Employee #1's head had been crushed by the rear tires of the grader. Due to the position of the body when the injur ies occurred, it was evident that Employee #1 had been beneath the grader. Entry was not probably caused by Employee #1 accidentally falling from the cab during operation, as the grader steps would have obstructed entrance.
