Employees injured when thrown from out-of-control forklift
Investigation abstract
Employees #1 through #9 were riding on a Caterpillar forklift, model RC60, type for further observation. D, serial #31A01054, traveling north in the area of AF #5. The traveling speed o f the forklift was unknown; the posted speed was 15 mph. The forklift made a rig ht hand turn, but became unstable and out of control. The forklift began curving slightly to the left, thus making a 180 degree turn, tossing employees in to va rious locations of the plant. The forklift struck a parked Nordskog electric car t, tilted over, and landed on the rear bed of the electric cart, pinning Employe e #9 to the bed. Four employees were taken to St. Joseph Medical Center for trea tment and were released later the same day. Employee #9 remained in the hospital
