Employee killed when pinned under out-of-control skidder
Investigation abstract
On July 27, 1988, Employee #1 stayed behind to load one last log truck before go rvisor, and the supervisor called the sheriff. The sheriff arrived at the scene at approximately 4:00 a.m. Employee #1 was pronounced dead on arrival at the hos pital. ing home. At approximately 4:05 p.m., he finished loading the truck. The truck d river secured the load and proceeded to leave. At approximately 4:15 p.m., the l og truck spun out in the dirt on a steep section of the road. Employee #1 got on a skidder and pushed the truck up the hill. As Employee #1 returned down the hi ll, he lost control of the skidder. He went up an embankment and rolled over. Em ployee #1 was ejected from the skidder, which then rolled on top of him and crus hed him to death.
