SCAFFOLD PLANK BROKE; EMPLOYEE FELL TO GROUND
Investigation abstract
EMPLOYEE #1 WAS WORKING ON A 2 BY 10 INCH BY 10 FEET LONG SCAFFOLD PLANK, POINTI NG BRICKS. THE PLANK WAS LOCATED 40 FEET ABOVE THE GROUND. EMPLOYEE #1 WEIGHED A BOUT 185 POUNDS. A CO-WORKED, WHO WEIGHED ABOUT 275 POUNDS, STEPPED ONTO THE PLA NK. THE PLANK BROKE, SENDING BOTH EMPLOYEES DOWN TO THE GROUND. EMPLOYEE #1 SUFF ERED A SHATTERED HEEL. THE OTHER EMPLOYEE WAS NOT INJURED. THE EMPLOYEE WHO CAUS ED THE PLANK TO BREAK SAID THAT HE EXAMINED THE PLANK AFTER THE ACCIDENT AND NOT ICED A LARGE KNOT AT THE SPOT WHERE IT BROKE.
