Employee killed when ejected from aerial lift
Investigation abstract
At 10:00 a.m. on September 30, 1985, Employee #1 was 21 ft above a sidewalk in a both serious. n articulating boom aerial lift, removing electric wiring. The lift was set up c urbside at the NW corner of Eastern Avenue and Conkling Street in the westbound lane. The elbow of the boom extended 1 ft out from the left side of the vehicle. A westbound delivery truck struck the elbow of the boom, ejecting Employee #1. He fell into the eastbound lane of Eastern Avenue and was immediately struck by an eastbound tractor trailer. Employee #1, who was not wearing a body belt and l anyard, was killed. The Baltimore City DPW (public sector) was found to be in al leged violation of 29CFR 1910.67(c)(2)(ii) and 29CFR 1910.67(c) and 67(c)(2)(v),
