EMPLOYEE KILLED WHEN HE FELL INTO TANK CONTAINING HOT BRINE

Investigation abstract

EMPLOYEE #1 WAS ON TOP OF THE #3 SATURATOR WHICH WAS FILLED WITH BRINE AT 170 DE GREES. THE SATURATOR WAS 30 FEET IN DIAMETER AND 40 FEET DEEP. EMPLOYEE #1 HAD H ELPED IN THE DESIGN OF THE EQUIPMENT IN THIS AREA. IT IS NOT KNOWN WHAT EMPLOYEE #1 WAS DOING IN THE AREA, BUT HE FELL INTO SATURATOR. EMPLOYEE #1 RECEIVED SECO ND AND THIRD DEGREE BURNS OVER 90% OF HIS BODY. HE LATER DIED.
