ELECTRIC SHOCK - DIRECT CONTACT WITH ENERGIZED PARTS

Investigation abstract

AN EMPLOYEE WAS EXTENDING A 480-VOLT BUSBAR TO ACCOMMODATE A NEW OVERHEAD CRANE. HE WAS WORKING FROM A METAL SCAFFOLD AT A HEIGHT OF 12 FEET. THE EMPLOYEE HAD E NERGIZED THE BUS TO MOVE THE CRANE AND DID NOT DEENERGIZE THE CIRCUIT AGAIN WHEN HE RESUMED WORK ON THE BUS. THE EMPLOYEE WAS ELECTROCUTED WHEN HE CONTACTED THE BUS.
