EMPLOYEES BECAME DIZZY OR LOST CONCIOUSNESS
Investigation abstract
At approximately 7:00 a.m. on March 13, 1987, 75 employees of the US Sample Comp mber 1 and 2. After that, Employee #9 collapsed at conveyor number 7. Following this occurrence Employee #1 collapsed at conveyor number 7 at 7:30 a.m. Once Emp loyee #1 had collapsed, the company president instructed all employees to leave the building. Employees evacuated to the street. Employee #3, the swatching supe rvisor, remained in the building to ensure complete evacuation and accounting of employees. At 8:30 a.m. she became dizzy and lost consciousness. In total, 5 em ployees collapsed, 39 had various symptoms and 19 were examined in emergency roo ms. any began their work shift which involved their usual practice of swatching and cutting and using number 931 glue. The work area was located in the basement of the plant. At 7:10 a.m. Employee #2 became nauseated and left her work station a t conveyor number 3 and went to the washroom where she regurgitated. She then re turned to her work station but her vision blurred and she collapsed between the conveyors and cutting machine number 3 at approximately 7:15 a.m. She was attend ed to by a group of five or six employees and supervisors.
