FATALITY CAUSED BY CHROMIC OBSTRUCTIVE LUNG DISEASE

Investigation abstract

EMPLOYEE #1 WAS EMPLOYED BY HANDSCHY INDUSTRIES FROM MARCH 6, 1972 TO JANUARY 23 , IF ANY, CANNOT BE ESTABLISHED. , 1984. PRIOR TO HIS EMPLOYMENT AT HANDSCHY, THE EMPLOYEE WORKED FOR TWO OTHER L OCAL OTHER LOCAL PRINTING INK MANUFACTURERS. WHILE AT HANDSCHY, EMPLOYEE #1 WORK ED IN SEVERAL AREAS; PRIMARILY IN BATCH WEIGHING AND IN THE MILLROOM. THE EMPLOY EE DIED ON NOVEMBER 26, 1986. THE AUTOPSY REPORT INDICATES THAT THE CAUSE OF DEA TH WAS CHRONIC OBSTRUCTIVE LUNG DISEASE, FIBROSIS AND CORONARY ATHEROSCLEROSIS. AIR SAMPLING DONE DURING A PREVIOUS INSPECTION IN 1984 AND DURING THE PRESENT IN SPECTION INDICATES NO OVER-EXPOSURES TO ANY AIR CONTAMINANTS. IT APPEARS THAT A RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE FORMER EMPLOYEE'S ILLNESS AND HIS OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE
