ELECTRIC SHOCK - DIRECT CONTACT WITH OVERHEAD LINE
Investigation abstract
A power line crew was awaiting the radio call of a supervisor to let the employe es know that a downed overhead power line was deenergized. They were going to re place a broken utility pole and restring the line conductors. One of the employe es on the crew walked too close to the still-energized 14.4-kilovolt power line, and current arced to his left leg. The employee fell backwards onto the line an d was electrocuted. Minutes before the accident, the employee had received and a cknowledged a stay clear call form the supervisor.
