ELECTRIC SHOCK - DIRECT CONTACT WITH OVERHEAD LINE
Investigation abstract
Two power line workers arrived at the site of a downed phase conductor of a 7200 -volt overhead power line so that they could repair the line. The phase conducto r had been deenergized, but was not yet grounded. One of the power line workers grabbed the conductor and was electrocuted. It is believed that there was backfi eld of unknown voltage from the transformer banks, which energized the phase con ductor.
