INHALATION OF CHEMICAL VAPORS

Investigation abstract

AT APPROXIMATELY 6:00 A M 06/06/84 TWO EMPLOYEES WERE CLEANING THE INSIDE OF A T THE 170 ACCOMPANYING THE PRINTOUT HAD NO ABSTRACT, SO THE CHEMICAL CANNOT BE CH ECKED. IWG ANK TRUCK, WHICH HAD CONTAINED (CHEMICAL VAPORS). AFTER APPOXIMATELY 2 HOURS OF CLEANING, EMPLOYEE #1 CLIMBED INTO THE TOP OF THE TANK AND OPENED THE DOME LID T O INSERT A DRYER. HE BEGAN COUGHING AFTER HE WAS EXPOSED TO THE CHEMICAL VAPORS ESCAPING FROM THE TANK THROUGH THE OPEN DOME LID. AFTER WALKING APPROXIMATELY 50 FEET EMPLOYEE #1 INDICATED HE COULD NOT "CATCH HIS BREATH" AND THAT HE NEEDED H ELP. HE LOST CONSCIOSNESS AT APPROXIMATELY 6:11 AM, WHILE BEING TRANSPORTED TO A HOSPITAL. HE WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD AT 7:08 AM. NOTE: THE CHEMICAL VAPOR WAS ORIGI NALLY DESCRIBED IN THIS ABSTRACT AS "INALEIE ARHYDRIDE". (PROBABLY AN ANHYDRIDE)
